Company Profile

In a small town called Yauco, located on the sunny southern coast of Puerto Rico, a bakery opened to make fresh breads, biscuits, cookies and crackers to serve its people.  It was 1864, and the gentlemen  who opened this business had invested what they hoped was the right combination of equipment, skill, and good judgement.
The business was named the Porto Rico Biscuit Company.
The original company continued to produce the same, high-quality goods for the next 68 years.  Equipment was updated, products were added, distribution grew.
By 1932, a major depression was affecting the entire island, and a new business was beginning. The Porto Rico Biscuit Co., founded 1864, later to become The Borinquen Biscuit Corporation in 1932.
Both quickly emerged, and Borinquen Biscuit resumed production of the cookies, soda crackers and specialty items that are still a staple of the business and a standard for the industry sixty years later.
