Research Grants and Proposals

 

Submission of proposal to National Institute of Mental Health, Center for Studies of Metropolitan Problems.  Scheff is the principal investigator (Total direct costs for two years $313,726).  If this proposal, Deinstitutionalization and the Sheltering Capacity of Metropolitan Communities is approved and funded then 40% of Scheff's salary for two years as well as funding for two Ph.D. Students (one in Planning and one in Anthropology) and al least 3 M.U.P. students will result.  October, 1976.

 

Participated in preparation of two proposal related to traineeships and curriculum  development for joint programs in public health and urban planning.  Although they went through Health Sciences, they would have benefited directly Scheff (20% of salary) and at least four joint program students in planning.  The proposals were approved but not funded.  March 1976.

 

U.S. Department Health, Education, and Welfare, National Institute of Mental Health.  Prepared proposal and received funding, with others, to develop a curriculum (and the concept) of social planning, 1970 - 1975.

 

U.S. Office of Economic  Opportunity.  Prepared proposal and received funding, with others, to conceptualize and measure poverty, 1965 - 1966.
